9th Annual Chief Robert Boyd Charity Softball Game
Get ready to cheer on our local first responders! The 9th Annual Chief Robert Boyd "Boots vs. Badges" Charity Softball Game brings together New Bern Fire-Rescue and the New Bern Police Department for a fun evening of friendly competition and community support.
This annual charity event is a great opportunity for residents, families, and community members to come together, support our local first responders, and help give back to those in need.

Craven Community College Brings "Welcome to Campus" to Stanley White Recreation Center
New Bern Housing Authority residents and community members have a great opportunity to learn new skills, explore new opportunities, and connect with valuable resources-at no cost!
Craven Community College is bringing a series of free weekly classes directly to the Stanley White Recreation Center, making education and personal development more accessible to the community.
🌟 YOUNG ADULT SERIES ' AGES 18-24
Tuesdays ' 1:00-2:00 PM
Young adults can participate in four engaging sessions:
September 8: AI & Computer Basics
September 15: Money on the Mindset - Financial Literacy
September 22: Career Exploration, including a trip to the Volt Center
September 29: College 101
📚 ADULT SERIES
Tuesdays ' 10:00-11:00 AM
Adults can take part in sessions focused on overall health and wellness:
October 6: Health & Wellness
October 13: Healthy Eating
October 20: Physical Health

April was National Child Abuse Prevention Month 💙
The New Bern Housing Authority was proud to participate in raising awareness and promoting safe, healthy environments for children and families in our community.
Throughout the month, we partnered with Pinkie Moore and Craven Smart Start to support this important initiative. Together, we displayed prevention materials and messages at two locations-our Main Office and Trent Court-to help spread awareness and encourage community involvement.
At New Bern Housing Authority, we believe that every child deserves a safe place to grow, a voice to be heard, and a future full of hope.

Resident Leadership Development
Saddle Up For Success - 2026 Resident Leadership Seminar
New Bern Housing Authority proudly participated in the 2026 Resident Leadership Seminar, "Saddle Up For Success," hosted by the Resident Services Committee on behalf of CCHRCO.
The seminar was held March 25-27, 2026, in Asheville, North Carolina, and provided valuable training opportunities focused on:
Building leadership skills among residents
Promoting self-sufficiency and personal growth
Strengthening families and communities
Creating pathways for long-term success
Through this experience, participants engaged in workshops and discussions designed to empower individuals and families to take an active role in their communities and future.

Residents and both Ross Coordinators actively engaged in training sessions focused on leadership development and self-sufficiency.
New Bern Housing Authority representatives along with other Housing Authorities,attending the "Saddle Up For Success" seminar, building connections and gaining valuable resources.
Participation in events like the Resident Leadership Seminar allows New Bern Housing Authority to continue strengthening its Resident Services programs while equipping residents with the tools and knowledge needed to grow, lead, and succeed.
Program Highlights
🎓 Education & Youth Development
- Hosted the Reading Stars Challenge, encouraging school-aged children to build strong reading habits and earn rewards
- Organized Academic Check-In Nights to support student success through goal setting, report card review, and access to tutoring resources
- Recognized student achievement through initiatives like our Progress Report Giveaway, rewarding academic improvement
Life Skills & Wellness Workshops
- Hosted the "Are You Prepared? Planning with Peace of Mind" Workshop, helping residents understand:
- End-of-life planning
- Advance directives
- Available community resources
Safety & Financial Awareness
- Coordinated a "Stop Scams Against Seniors" Workshop featuring a guest speaker from Bank of America
- Educated residents on:
- Common scams targeting seniors
- Identity theft prevention
- Protecting personal and financial information
Through these programs, New Bern Housing Authority continues to empower residents by providing access to education, employment resources, and life skills training-helping individuals and families build stability, independence, and a brighter future.
